About the Role
We're looking for a talented, hands-on and highly ambitious Engineering Lead to join our team. You will be responsible for evolving and scaling our platform to enable us to revolutionise the manufacturing industry. There is a lot of scope for responsibility and the individual should be comfortable with taking ownership of [and managing] all aspects of the stack.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team Management and Mentorship: Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship and support to ensure their professional development and success
- Oversee development lifecycle: Oversee the design, development, testing, and release of features, ensuring engineering best practices
- Optimise Team Output: Lead and manage Engineering teams to constantly improve team velocity while maintaining quality standards
- Agile Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Designers and business stakeholders to define product requirements, scope and roadmaps
- Technical Leadership: Drive the technical vision and strategy for your team, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and objectives
- Ensure Quality Standards: Oversee the design, development and delivery of high quality features and products, ensuring best practices in coding, testing and deployment
- Capture Metrics and Reporting: Identify key Engineering performance metrics and establish reporting structures to drive continuous improvement efforts and ensure data-driven decision-making
- Hands-on Feature Development: Provide hands-on support, dedicating a minimum of 20% of the time to building and shipping your own features/fixes
Experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or team lead role, with demonstrated ability to manage and mentor engineers
- SCRUM or Agile Framework implementation, monitoring and management
- Strong technical knowledge of PHP, Laravel and JavaScript
- Leading the commercial/technical direction of a team/startup
- Building and maintaining microservices
- Setting up test harnesses and incorporating effective testing into their workflow
- Using data to lead decision making
Desired Experience:
- Previous experience working in manufacturing
- NGINX
- Docker/Docker Compose
- Google Cloud Platform
- Python
- 3D modelling software such as FreeCAD, PythonOCC, CAD Exchanger or three.js
